Our Mission
Hard Knox Roller Derby (HKRD) is a flat-track roller derby league located in Knoxville, TN. We are a competitive sports organization that strives to improve individual athleticism, self-discipline, and character while promoting team unity. We are a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), and our program provides structured training, instruction, and competition, preparing our members to represent Knoxville at a national level.
About Hard Knox Roller Derby
Founded in January 2006, Hard Knox Roller Derby includes members representing all walks of life -- from students, to parents, to professionals, to wives and everything in between -- yet all maintain the same underlying spirit: that of a Warrior and a Winner. As an official WFTDA league, HKRD is a licensed 501c3 non-profit organization that is skater owned and operated and is dedicated to providing community outreach through events, activities, and charity sponsorship. The mission of Hard Knox Roller Derby is to provide athletic entertainment while promoting the sport of roller derby.
Hard Knox Roller Derby has been competing since 2006, making their way to the 2010 South Central Regional Tournament, and helping to build the sport of roller derby worldwide. Hard Knox Roller Derby is nationally ranked and highly competitive. All skaters, referees, officials and bout organizers are volunteers, and rely heavily on the support of fans and local businesses. Paying it Forward
The members of HKRD can be seen all over Knoxville and the surrounding areas supporting such charities as the Girls Scouts of America, Young-Williams Animal Center, Disabled American Veterans, the Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity, Alzheimer’s Association, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and so many more wonderful organizations.
